Terms of Use
Plain English terms for using Home Heat Pump Guide. Last updated: March 2026.
These terms are written in plain English because we think legal jargon helps nobody. By using our website, you agree to these terms. The short version: our content is for information only, not professional advice. Our cost estimates are not guarantees. Our quote service is free and without obligation.
1. What This Site Is (and Isn't)
Home Heat Pump Guide is an independent information service operated by Pea Soup Digital. We provide general guidance about heat pumps, costs, grants, and related topics to help UK homeowners make informed decisions about their heating.
We are not:
- Heat pump installers or tradespeople
- Financial advisors
- Energy consultants or surveyors
- A substitute for professional advice tailored to your specific home
Our content is for general information purposes. While we strive for accuracy, you should always get a professional survey and quote before making decisions about heating your home.
2. Our Cost Estimates
The cost figures, running cost calculations, and savings estimates on our site are based on publicly available data and clearly stated assumptions. They are provided to give you a general understanding of costs and are not guarantees.
Actual costs depend on your specific property, location, chosen installer, system specification, and current market conditions. The only way to get an accurate, binding price is through a formal quote from an MCS-certified installer following a home survey.
We update our figures regularly (see our methodology page for details), but we cannot guarantee that all figures are current at the exact moment you read them.
3. Our Quote Service
Our quote service connects you with MCS-certified heat pump installers in your area. By submitting a quote request:
- You consent to your contact details being shared with up to 3 MCS-certified installers
- You understand the service is free and without obligation
- You understand we do not control or guarantee the quality, price, or availability of any installer's services
- You understand any contract for installation work is between you and the installer, not with us
We select installers from our network based on location and availability. We verify that installers are MCS-certified at the time they join our network, but we recommend you independently verify their certification before proceeding.
We may receive a referral fee from installer partners when a lead results in a consultation or installation. This commercial relationship does not influence our editorial content, calculator results, or suitability assessments.
4. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, calculations, tools, design, and code — is the property of Pea Soup Digital unless otherwise stated.
You may:
- Share links to any page on our site
- Reference our figures with attribution (a link to the relevant page)

You may not:

5. Limitation of Liability
In plain English: we do our best to provide accurate information, but we can't guarantee it's perfect, and we're not liable if you make decisions based on our content that don't work out as expected.
More specifically:
- We provide information “as is” without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any losses arising from reliance on our content
- We are not responsible for the actions, quality, or reliability of any installer you find through our quote service
- We are not responsible for external websites we link to
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
6. Your Responsibilities
When using our site, you agree to:

- Not attempt to access restricted areas of the site
- Not use automated tools to scrape or download content
- Not rely solely on our estimates for financial decisions
7. Accuracy and Updates
We make every effort to keep our information accurate and up to date. Energy rates, grant amounts, and installation costs change regularly. We update our data at least quarterly, but there may be periods where published figures lag behind the latest changes.
If you spot an error, please contact us and we will correct it promptly.
8. External Links
Our site contains links to external websites (Ofgem, Energy Saving Trust, MCS, etc.) for reference purposes. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of external websites. Linking to an external site does not imply endorsement.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by English law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
